An outtake from the sketch of “30 år, 21 kvm2, rosa, blått, blått” (2021). A zoomed-in detail, it was a test to figure out if I should use rya och tapestry/flat weave technique for the coming bigger piece. I started with the flat weave sample but once I started on this one, I couldn’t resist my love for rya and the decision was made. It was however the first time I featured relief flossa/rya - aka, the use of knots of different heights and densities in the same piece. This gives 3D dimension and depth and an undeniable lust to feel and trace the levels with your fingers (at least that’s how it works for me). I used up left-over odds and ends to fill the bottom weft, which created an extra interesting backside. Finished with an oriental braid at top and regular braided fringes at the bottom. hang with clips on thin pins (not included).
